Patterson highlight
Agricultural community in the San Joaquin Valley
Patterson holds the title of Apricot Capital of the World, reflecting its role at the center of California's largest apricot-producing region in the San Joaquin Valley.

Patterson sits in Stanislaus County in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, one of the world's most productive agricultural regions. The city and surrounding county are synonymous with apricot production, a crop that thrives in the valley's warm summers and moderate winters. The Patterson area has been the center of apricot farming for over a century, with the fruit's economics shaping the region's infrastructure, labor patterns, and seasonal rhythms.
In May 1971 the Patterson Chamber of Commerce formally adopted the title Apricot Capital of the World, recognizing the region's outsized role in a global commodity. The city celebrates this heritage each June with the Apricot Fiesta, an annual festival that brings residents and visitors together around the crop that built the community. Beyond apricots, the valley's agricultural diversity includes almonds, cotton, alfalfa, and dairy operations that employ thousands across Stanislaus County.
Agriculture in the valley has always required planning: farmers balance water rights, equipment investment, and seasonal labor against crop cycles measured in decades. The same mindset applies to family planning. A term life policy sized to cover a mortgage, business loan, or the years a family depends on a single income is the equivalent for households: a decision made once that covers a long cycle of life.
